Some good news for our local area from the Charlotte County Government web site. More jobs - Cheney Brothers Coming to Punta Gorda soon (not soon enough)!!Punta Gorda, FL – Construction of the Cheney Brothers Access Roadway is scheduled to begin Wednesday, October 3, 2012. This project will provide access to the parcel of land acquired by Cheney Brothers for a commercial distribution center within the Charlotte County Airport Authority property. Trucks and equipment will be moving through the areas of Piper Road and Airport Road through the end of November 2012. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to exercise caution while traveling in this area.

Cheney Brothers is a large food distributor. They will bring over 600 jobs to Charlotte County, not including the construction workers to build the plant. Here is their web site:

I remember reading about them last year after the approval. They said they are hiring and you can apply early. However I always get an error if you try to submit your interest. Their website suks, there is nothing posted for any openings. I hope it isn't all hype.
