-----------------------------------------

When we purhased our home here in the Jockey Club, it was bank-owned and we were not told a thing. Until the closing, we were not even aware it had an HOA. That is probably a good thing because I had heard so many bad things about them , but this one has turned out to be pretty good . In the six years we have been here, the fees were only $200 a year (has gone up a little now), which is less than many places charge per month!!

I don't know about any drug dealing here , but as in all neighborhoods, there are good neighbors and lesser desirable ones. Slowly, the residents are being replaced from the aging original owners and snowbirds, to more young families. We have not had real problems with anyone.

This HOA does not allow privacy fencing, although a line of shrubs and trees would do the trick. They are not really strict as long as you keep it neat and clean, or unless someone reports a violation. Sometimes it is hard to enforce violators when they are snowbirds and the home is empty for many months at a time. I am referring to keeping the yards up, etc.

I know that all pets are required to be kept on your property (including cats) or they must remain indoors. At the edge of the Jockey Club on Appomattox is a DOG PARK especially for taking them to pay and run... check it out!

In addition to the above, Jockey Club is conveniently located and easily accessible, has some nice facilities (for the low fees), and is generally a very nice place to live. Having the HOA helps keep our home values up in this area.
