congrats . we were only watching a House Hunters last night from Portland, it was raining grey and miserable, just like the UK. The couple both said that an outdoor lifestyle was pretty much non existant a good amount of the year.................we both said 'who would want to live there'............now we know

the sun awaits you !

Yes it is grey and rainy here most of the year. Most years there is only 2-3 months of sun and somewhat warm weather. Summer usually does not start till July 4th and then only till the end of Sept.

I did not want to live here, however I move here in '97 for my now ex-wife. Since that ended I have been planning and doing all I can to get back and now it is finally happening. I am so happy; I have a smile that just won't go away.

I know there will be some stress with getting into a new place but that won't last long, then it is sun, palm trees, and warm sea breezes.

When I get down there I hope to meet up with a few of you guys especially the fishermen. It has been way to long without a lunker line sider bending my rod and the reels have been too silent.

Congratulations!

I've never been to Portland, but I've lived in Seattle, where I found the lack of sun for many months in a row really depressing, and have found the Florida sunshine has just the opposite effect on me.

Before I lived in places that were at these extremes, I never minded cloudy days and couldn't have imagined how big an effect sunshine or lack of it could have on my general happiness. But having experienced that, I never take Florida for granted.

It's not an exaggeration to compare the difference between living in Seattle vs. here to the difference between Kansas and Oz in the Wizard of Oz. Never realized before I lived there that no sunlight = no color. (Beautiful city in the summer though.)

Enjoy your new home!
