Looking for an affordable builder for an old-florida style home in Arcadia or Punta Gorda, possibly Peace River area, half acre lot, country style home.

Any good recommendations?
THANKS!

Hello,

I'd say Ben de Jong. He specializes in large custom homes, but I think he will do smaller ones as well. Here's his number:

(941) 743-0474
Hope this helps!

Have you looked just a mile over the Charlotte County line up King's Hwy? Lake Suzy is just over the line, in Desoto County, and some very pretty land over there near the Kingsway CC, on both sides of the road. Low Desoto County taxes, and easy access to Rt.75 and so forth. You can take a left at the CC entrance, or go a bit further and take a left on Egret and plenty of land for sale back there. Some of the lots off Egret also have privileges at the fly-in air strip. Nice spot. You do not have to belong to the CC.

What is your price range and what do you mean by old Florida country style home? Are you looking for a porch or what features make it country to you? There are a couple of builders that are building Key West style homes - Cantin Builders and Hamsher Homes. Price range and size of home will make a difference in recommendations of builders. You can go to the Charlotte DeSoto Builder Industry Association web site and use the Directory to look up Residential Contractors - Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association - CDBIA. There are also some other threads in this forum with builder recommendations if you run a search.

Actually Ben lives up that way in Lake Suzy, in a beautiful country/traditional style home. Beautiful area and I hadn't thought about the tax benefit, but that's a nice perk too.

Yes, it's a hidden jewel of a location. Lovely homes in there, and Kingsway CC has a "menu" of member options, but not necessary to join. I had a very nice condo at Crystal Bay, and miss it .............. in the winter.
