And THIS will be my last response to you. My mother taught me not to argue with your kind.
He should learn more about how city water is delivered and treated before he makes such an ignorant comment about well water systems.

Unlike years ago when codes were lax, swales are now usually required in the front yard for runoff from the road. Putting a septic in the front yard is not easy and pushes it close to the home. It also creates a steeper drop off from the front yard into the swale that makes cutting the grass more difficult. I was on hundreds of job sites as homes were being built. Most builders won't buy lots without central water and many home buyers won't even look at them. Bottom line is buyers should avoid homes with well and septic on a standard 80 x 120 SWFL lot for health, convenience and resale.

Where did you get your engineering and geology degree?? You don't have a clue about the nonsense you spew. Again, you should learn more about how city water is delivered and treated before he makes such an ignorant comment about well water systems.

A lot of public water is also from wells, and the treatment system they use is the same as what private home have. So, guess what you're mom and dad have been drinking Alf. Come on Alf, now you have a chance to slam Sarasota and everyone, because everyone drinks water. . . .

I can't believe you still don't get it! City water, whether it comes from the river, well, whatever is constantly treated, tested and monitored. It has to meet all state and federal standards that apply. Many central water facilities have someone monitoring the water every minute of every day. Its guaranteed safe.

Uncle Fester (the guy in the picture a couple of post back) that flushes his waste into the ground 80 feet from where he drinks from, has no idea what is in his water because he isn't testing it. Septics and wells develop problems all the time especially in FL, fast downpours, flooding, drought, etc. He could be drinking water with a high fecal matter count or other contaminants and not even know it until the growths start. Water can test OK one day and be contaminated 30 days later. Lots without central water are cheaper to buy but most builders won't touch them. Most knowledgeable buyers won't look at a well water and septic, especially on a 80 x120 standard SW FL lot. Stay away from areas that allow waste from four 3br homes per acre to flush into the same acre that they drink from.

If you are right as you claiming, how come most homes in North Port are NOT on central sewer and city water, you must be working for city water plant and promoting it. If every one would put Softener before holding tank, add Chlorinating system ( tank and pump) than Charcoal filter after holding tank you would have water just as safe as city water is. In fact I have it and one friend of mine has it also but he got it from Gator and I did my own my self. it cost me less than $1000 his was $1750 but its very easy to do it. Soon I will do one more for another friend. It keeps water much clearer in holding tank and no smell also charcoal filter make it more clean, and Chlorinator does its job automatically no need to worry about having to much or not enough Chlorine.

They think if it doesn't smell or taste too bad it's safe, not true. Not many builders will buy lots without central water, but some do because they're usually much cheaper. Have the water tested by a lab before you buy any home with well water.

City water and water from large community wells is monitored constantly for quality. Many knowledgeable buyers will not even look at a home with individual well water on a 80 x 120 lot, so resale is a factor especially when the market is slow.
+1, ABSOLUTLY right , a quarter acre lot subdivision is just asking for problems with contamination.
