We have 52 months and 2 days to go. Although I'm not sure if it will be SW Florida, southern California, or the Big Island in Hawaii. There's a huge difference in how much farther the money goes in Florida than in Hawaii, especially for the real estate. The climate isn't as good in Florida than Hawaii or southern California, but there are other advantages, such as the boating and fishing is vastly better in Florida. No state income tax is a huge plus, because we'll still be paying a lot of income tax during retirement. We've visited about six times, but only in the winter. We plan to visit this summer to experience how bad it is during the summer. We could end up being snowbirds if the summers are too hot and humid for us. We've been thinking about buying property several years before I retire after my wife retires next year. Then I might end up working remotely from Florida for a couple months every winter before I retire.

We started to try to reduce the clutter. I think it might take four years to reduce the clutter. I'm guessing I have at least a couple dozen hammers. Even more if you count specialty hammers, like drywall hammers, sledge hammers, crate opening hammers, pneumatic framing and finishing hammers. Fortunately, no jack hammers to get rid of.

We have approximately 24 hours. The movers are about to finish up and head your way. Just waiting for the car hauler.

Wow Old Gal. The excitement must be almost overpowering. Is everything or anything going as planned? When the smoke clears maybe you can fill us in on what to do and what not to do as it relates to moving.
Good luck!

Paperwork done, money wired, Wednesday closing. The ducks are all lined up so here's hoping everything happens as planned.
Moving truck arrives here in Minnesota May 26th and then we are gone! With 34 degrees forecast tonight, we are ready for the great escape.

Congrats and good luck with the move! What company are you using? You probably said before and I just missed it...

We are using Allied. A good friend of mine is a franchisee and takes good care of us.

If you haul your stuff here to Minnesota, he might give you a discount from here to Florida. Sounds like a great deal to me!

We have almost 3 years before the final move. You all are reminding me of how much STUFF I need to go through and get rid of. Yep, still have unpacked boxes from when we moved to this house in 2005 and even more stuff still packed from when we moved to the old house! Hoping to be able to get down to our place there as often as possible, but every time we do, we don't want to come back here! Not that it's bad here, it's just that we want to BE there!
