Publix for most stuff, Clemons for fruits & veg, WalMart once a month for staples (trash bags, paper towels, etc). I get my shrimp off the Iron Ox and my fish out of the harbor or canal, but I do get mussels from Publix once or twice a week, and I'm generally happy with the quality.

Oh forgot, Cai Lay on El Jobean Rd for spices, noodles, Asian vegetables, fish sauce, rice wine vinegar etc. Prices 1/2 - 1/3 Publix, lots of unusual stuff, real deal Asian brands instead of watered down Chung King junk. Try Flying Lion fish sauce.

Publix has the BEST Tiramisu I have ever had and we are from Long Island, NY where the bakeries are hard to beat! We highly suggest you try it if you are a fan of Tiramisu!

Never been in a Trader Joes - always wanted to go! Looks like a trip to Sarasota is in the future.

Edit: only because there's none around here where we live now.

When we move down full-time, one thing we will sorely miss is Wegmans.

If you have never been, it is an experience. They have good prices on standard grocery items, but their meat and seafood departments are light years ahead of any other grocery store.

We have shopped at the two (??) Publix on Tamiami trail in PG. Eh, OK..

The 2 PG farmers markets have good to great produce depending on variables.

Have bought the fresh shrimp from the boat at Boca. Looking forward to buying from Bill at the Iron Ox (would love to go out shrimping with him some time).

Mike
