SeaRay: if you have a nice car, go with Intercity. I've used them coast to coast car move. Not cheap, but they are among the best out there.

sea ray: to clarify, it's intercity lines. Enclosed Auto Transport - Intercity Lines

i used 'em a few years back, and the driver surveyed/inspected then pampered the car quite literally from top to bottom. he pointed out the tiniest little paint issues or wheel or body imperfections and noted them, all prior to loading. the loading process took about 2 hours start to finish, that's how thorough it was. and then there was periodic phone calls or emails from driver, with a delivery window that was tight and right on schedule.

if you go to any car-specific forums, you'll see their name pop up as recommended carrier. there are a few other very good carriers out there too, but i can only speak from experience with intercity. in any event, it would be my recommendation to NOT use a broker. go with a company that owns their own fleet.

Rupert if you listen to the Internet reviews than you definitely will not use a transport company. I talked to about 10 different and all were brokers with stories. I am taking car myself on auto train.
Robin Mike gave me a name of a boat hauler I will message it you. You may want to look into the auto train as well. There were a couple company's I may have tried because of recommendations but if you have a tight delivery window their can be a problem.

Thanks SeaRay35. You have to be very careful with these transport companies. My younger son lived in Chicago for awhile and was moving back to NY he need to get his car (his baby)back and didn't want the mileage on it. He used a company that came HIGHLY recommended and cost a fortune. When the car got here it was scratched on the drivers door and he had a hole in his gas line that I could put my fist through. So I am very skeptical about using anyone. So the train is a very good idea. We are thinking of selling our boat and buying something new down there. I won't bring the car/boat down this year but I will need to get them down next year.
