I get a kick out of parking police cars somewhere and leaving them unmanned. I've seen that up on Tamiami in PC too, sometimes outside of Lowes or Home Depot for days at a time.
Growing up in a small town in PA, the cops there tried the same thing when a controversial business opened up in town. The cop car was vandalized overnight.

They are called Ghost Cars and PGPD uses them a lot. Normally after things like bank hold ups you see them left in the parking lot for a week. A house broken into a couple months ago on Tripoli Blvd by the Publix had one parked in it's driveway for two weeks.

Ah....I saw that pd parked there for awhile. Now BSI is installing five security cameras...fine by me. Love the idea of the ghost vehicles, too. A lot more PD presence here than in my home town, seem to be more reactive than proactive these days!

Has any police department made an official statement on the case lately? I haven't seen anything.

What about the home search they did over a month ago? No clues from that? I guess we're suppose to return to our business, and not worry that this idiot will return to the scene of the crime?

We were there at 10PM last night. There was one 20-something woman working there, alone. No customers until we pulled up. I was expecting two people and a locked door.

There is some sort of 3D re-enactment today. Was on the news last night.

As I mentioned before it was said that the suspect had fled the area. Although I was told it was not someone's understanding. I would venture to guess that is why no arrest has been made as of yet.

Default 3-D technology to aid Punta Gorda murder investigation

PUNTA GORDA, FL -
Updated: Dec 19, 2015 9:47 AM EST
NBC-2 TV

A team of volunteers and officials are gathering this morning at a Punta Gorda 7-Eleven in an effort to solve a murder.

The Punta Gorda Police Department is joining forces with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, using 3-D mapping technology to recreate a crime scene.

The store's clerk, Kyle Farishian, 18, was shot and killed inside the store last month. The store was then set on fire.

Officials hope to uncover some new information using the technology, which will provide investigators with the fine details from the original crime scene, including the suspect's height as well as the width of his shoulders and hips.

Farishian was the only employee in the store when he was shot and killed by an unknown suspect. Investigators have searched a nearby lake and a home for additional evidence. They hope the 3-D technology will provide them with new information on the suspect.

"That machine is a valuable piece of equipment for not only our team here in major crimes but for other agencies that need to use that type of equipment," said Lt. Jeff Detkas with LCSO.

"Our evidence technicians will be the ones that go out and utilize the equipment, set it up, and make sure it gets done and done correctly."

While the technicians are working, the 7-Eleven and surrounding area will be closed to the public.
