Anyone else get the letter in the mail? April 26th is the meeting. South of Edgewater, from Midway to a little past Collingswood.....

No shocker, that was the whole reason for the Edgewater expansion, of course.

They want us to save them (us) money by telling them where our septic tanks are. Sounds like they didn't do their homework, have no idea what they are doing, and have no idea what it will cost them (us).

Who's going? The meeting is at the church on Edgewater. I am bringing beer .

I didn't get it, or if we did, my wife probably didn't read it, thinking..."well, we don't need sewers, we just spent five thousand on a new septic tank last year".

What is the time frame to get out here? Do they assess the charge before or after they do your particular street? What kind of beer are you serving at the meeting?

No letter received yet. What time and which church; Edgewater and Yukon or Edgewater and Dunbar? I drink Guiness or other dark stouts.

Messing About, ask the Charlotte Utilities about a reimbursement. They paid over $1M in reimbursements in the Spring Lake section and have taken over maintenance of all systems here.

We had to hunt for our tank. The plans from the Health Dept showed where it was originally planned, but it was moved during construction. Go to the hardware store, buy a 3' piece of all-thread, use a couple of pair of pliers. The tank will be maybe a foot below the ground. Look for a clean out as a hint.

We guessed they either moved it to the rear or side from where it was originally planned, found the limestone field, found the tank top (had a hollow sounding 'clunk' when we hit it). Rod pushes easily through the dirt here. Te plans are pretty accurate as to your tank location.

Harbor Rat, it will cost more than it cost us. Englewood cost is in the $12-15 K cost.

MA, the assessments are always prior to starting the work. They need the money just to get the engineering work started. Ouch, new tank last year... that hurts. I hope they give phase 2 homeowners the same rebate for those that have new tanks/fields. I got $3,600 back on a 3yr old $7,500 complete system just before I sold the house.

MA, you are not in the phase 2 area. It's mostly just south of Edgewater from LakeView Blvd to a little west of Collinswood (according to the map in the notice I got).

MikMal, you look to be within the map zone, but close....the border line stops and 'squiggles' just past your canal.

Meetings are April 26 from 3pm-5pm AND 5:30-7:30pm at the Community Life Church Center Fellowship Hall building 19048 Edgewater Dr. Then there is another meeting May 3rd from 2-4pm at the East Port Environmental Campus 25550 Harborview Rd.

I'll see if I can find some more info....

Wow, Englewood Water District is about to start sewer construction in some areas of South Venice. They have quoted the financed amount with 5% interest to be $8,666.94 or $834.99 per year for 15 years to be put on your tax bill. They have scheduled April 25, 2016 as the date for start of construction.
