My Jake seemed perfectly healthy until a month ago. He went to have a tooth extracted (vet thought he had an abscess). Instead he has oral sarcoma and most of his upper left jaw was already gone!
For 2 weeks we visited specialists but nothing could be done. He’s still eating, but won’t drink. He doesn’t bark. He will barely look at us. But when we get him outside, he still wants to walk and sniff everything. But he can’t even open his mouth to yawn. It’s heartbreaking.
All this in a matter of 4 weeks! He was an 11 yr old healthy 60 lb dog (pit mix) a month ago and now we are preparing to help him cross the Bridge.
This dog is the epitome of a velcro dog. He is my best friend. I’m retired so we have been constant buddies. Losing him will be one of the hardest things I’ll ever have to do.

Poor pup.

Rest easy knowing that he will no longer suffer. Be kind to yourself knowing that you gave him a wonderful life.

Thank you for your kind words. Jake left us last Friday. We got his ashes back today. We had wonderful times together. But you are right, no more suffering. He just got sick so fast we weren’t expecting it. But I guess it’s never a good time.
