Don't you find it strange that a recruiter is looking for IT professionals in CA for a 6-month contract in NC, when there are hundreds of unemployed IT professionals already in this area?

EXACTLY! The NC Employment Security Commission (i.e., "The Unemployment Office for NC") is looking for IT people in CA. Shows you how messed up the system is.

The position above is also posted on all the major job search sites, so there's a good chance that random recruiters are trying to fill it without having any formal relationship with NCESC.

Thanks for posting the job info. I'm sure it will benefit someone.

Newuser - contract agencies are all over the place and not necessarily where the job is located. After getting cut from IBM a few years ago I went back to work for IBM as a contractor. The job was located in Rochester, NY and the contracting agency did not have an office anywhere in NY. And yes, they troll the job boards.
