Looking for highest interest rates for checking and savings in Chapel Hill (electric bill)

I googled reward checking and most of the rates were for $25K or more and even at that the info was outdated. Do you know of anything more than 1% either locally or on line?

I know it sounds crazy but Progress Energy, our utility company, is paying around 6.5% dividend right now. If your horizon isn't super short term, it might be an option. Right now the dividend I earn yearly pays my electric bill, and then some.
