I just moved to the area and will be settling in to my new home very soon. However, I am not familiar with who are the most reasonable utility companies that provide reliable service. We will be out on the edge of Chapel Hill off of Dairyland Road. Any help/advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Utilities Needed are Electricity, Natural Gas, TV, Internet, and I believe Trash Collection.

You are not going to have much of a choice. You'll whichever electric and phone service is in your area. I doubt there are natural gas lines out that far, so if you have a furnace there's a number of propane services, although you may be locked into one if there is already a tank on site. TV you can go time warner or a satellite. Internet you'll get time warner or phone company dsl. Assuming you are outside the town trash pickup area, you have a selection of trash services, or you can take your own trash to one of the collection centers on either eubanks or greensboro (pretty much equidistant for you) for free (if you don't have kids in diapers and are willing to compost, this is the way to go, we make one trip a month). The county will provide recycling pickup for paper, cardboard, plastic, cans and glass.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping for slightly more clarification. First, I like the price you quoted me on trash. FREE is always great. The house has a composte barrel so with the added recycling from the town. I should have very little waste.

House has natural gas lines and the furnace and stove run off gas.

I want the most reliable service for internet because it is essential for my work.

I am leaning towards DirectTV so can anyone give me a good reason why I shouldn't subscribe with this company?
