I'm thinking about attending some local football games this fall and was curious about ticket prices for the three local teams. I was up in Blacksburg last weekend to watch the Hokies play ECU and was shocked to learn that the face value of VA Tech tickets was $50.

Any insight on how much tickets costs for NC State, Duke, and UNC football games? I think the Hokies play at NC State and UNC this year. If I go wearing my Hokie Colors and cheer for the away team do you think I will get pummeled by the local team fans?

Any tips on how to score some tickets would be appreciated. Thanks!

Face value at Duke is $25, except for UNC game which is $50.

You can typically buy tickets outside stadium for face or less (and sometimes free).

Check the school sites to see if there are any still available (www.gopack.com, www.goheels.com)

NCSU's prices were $37/39 for non-conf games and $55 for conf games. At this point, all of the games left are conf. I don't know UNC's prices.

You can also try to purchase off of stubhub.com, or just show up and buy tickets off of someone. Sometimes you can find some on craigslist as well.

Expect some ridicule from the NCSU crowd if you show up in Hokie gear. Its all in good fun, and rarely gets out of hand. Of course it depends on how drunk people are... Oh - and if the Hokies win, I recommend NOT gloating through the parking lot after the game. That's usually when it turns ugliest.

I went to the Duke-Elon game a few weeks ago and we got tickets at the gate for $5 each. There were at least 20 people selling their tickets right by the gate 30 mins before kickoff so we were able to get them cheap. I think the face value was $22, but I might be mistaken.

Face value on my Cinci v. NCSU ticket last week was $52 in section 24.

At Duke, you might be in the majority wearing VT colors. At UNC, there might be a little hostility towards VT fans given the apparent involvement in VT "working with" the NCAA on the current UNC investigations. I've always felt like NCSU and VT fans got along well and the two schools seem to have quite a bit in common.

What does hostility at a UNC game construe? Will they dump their wine on you and pelt you with cheese?

Don't worry. I don't roll that way. I've been on the receiving end of the gloating - it is poor form.

Besides, I live the Hokies but we are off to a rough start and while I am hopeful we will beat UNC and NC State it will be a real test!

I went to the GT-UNC game last weekend and got tickets at under face value from StubHub. I got some minor hostility from UNC fans outside the stadium before the game for wearing GT stuff. Once at the game, we ended up next to a bunch of rowdy GT fans, and we certainly gave the UNC fans sitting around us some grief.
