Are termites of concern in NC? Do you recommend a stick built house or block?

I am a Home Inspector so I can answer these for you.
Block/masonry frame (not to be confused with brick/stone veneer)homes are almost non-existent here unless you are interested in historic houses.
Termites as of the utmost concern here. Our termites are subterranean and attack with a vengeance. It is very critical to be proactive treating and inspecting your home for infestation. I highly recommend using a locally owned smaller company over the larger businesses like terminix, orkin, and economy. I meet a tremendous amount of termite inspectors and the local companies tend to do a better job and offer a higher level of customer service. The larger companies tend to upsell you on treatments and preventions that are unnecessary. Termites are a force here, but the good thing is they work very slowly. Just have your house inspected once a year for $75 and you will never have an issue. I have to run to my next appointment, but feel free to ask away here or in PM any questions and I will be ahppy to go into further detail. Dave
