My house is on a slab, and when we recently purchased it we did the whole home inspection and got an independent termite inspection as well. Everything was fine. Our realtor mentioned that it wouldn't be a bad idea to get regular termite inspections (Once a Year at about $60 a pop) and keep all the documentation so when we sell the house down the road the fact that we did regualr inspections and could provide proof of doing so could be seen as a plus to potential buyers.

Here are my questions:

1) Are termites a common probelm here in traingle, even if you are on a slab and not a cralw space (How do they get in if you are on a slab!)

2) Would showing potential buyers documentation that a house was regularly inspected without any problems detected really be a selling point? I imagine most would get their own inspection done anyway for piece of mind.

I know it is probably good houskeeping to do regular inspections anyway, just curious about folks opinion on this asa selling point.

Thanks!

NRG,
Here's a link to a termite/slab discussion from last month on the Charlotte site:

Termites work endlessly to find the smallest void in the soil treatment. one thing you don't want for sure, is to mulch up to the siding, and not leave a visible area of foundation so you can look for a termite mud tunnel when walking around the house, slab or other foundation.
