My husband and I are considering moving to NC from Chicago. He's in the military and would be working at Pope ABF. I'm trying to do as much research as possible on the area but I'm at a lost. We would perfer to be in a larger town that is family friendly, (We have a 5yr old) but also has a lot of of things for us to do as we're not even 30 yet. We don't mind a bit of a commute but don't want more than 45min. We plan of coming down for a visit in the next few weeks but would like to have areas picked out to look at. We do plan on renting for 6mths or so to get a better feel before buying. Any towns that you may know of please let us know. Thank you guys so much for your help. If I'm this lost now I couldn't imange how lost I'd be without this site
There is an abundance of locations to look at around here. Some of the quieter communities are Spring Lake and further is Cameron. Spring Lake being the newest, Cameron being older and a antique center. Lillington is on the way to Raleigh and not far at all. The rurals around here host many a military family.
Southern Pines/ Aberdeen hosts many personel from the bases as well and is a pretty short ride.
We live in Sanford proper and yes we are located betwixt and between several larger communities. Currently we have around 60k for population.
This is a blue collar town with many a small production facility. We have several types of neighborhoods, ranging from closed and gated to government subsidized and everything in between. We will soon open the bypass on 421.
There is a Hampton Inn here in town that is centrally located, like Sanford, if you are looking for a place to stop.
We live on a 50 acre parcel in town in an old farm house that is the cats meow. We have a 5.8 acre parcel with water and woods for sale on the south end of town.
Look before you leap
