Reese,
The Triangle's forum is the most active of any CD Forum in the nation. It's a helpful bunch and there are tons of threads you can review in addition to starting new threads. Given that this Forum is the most active, the usual suspects here are pretty savvy on how to make it work best for you....hence the requests for more information.
If you can please tell us what you are looking for, what you are trying to leave behind by leaving DC, etc./ you'll get a better response. Open ended questions are very hard to answer because the responses can vary wildly and may have absolutely no interest to you.
And, if others here are like me, I try to only answer questions on topics in which I think I have something to offer. For instance, I can tell you what it's like to be single and live downtown but I can't tell what specific schools are like in the burbs. Makes sense?
With some more specifics, you are likely to get more advice than you will know what to do with!
Good luck!

Reese,

My wife and I live in NOVA (just outside of DC) and were considering moving to the Raleigh area as well. We don't "need" to move it's more of a "want" to move.

Were you able to find any helpful information on the Raleigh area and have you settled there or somewhere nearby?

One thing you may dearly miss here is the Metro.
