Ours is hardwood.

We actually moved our penninsula out by about 2ft and took down a portion of a 2 walls when we remodeled the kitchen. We were then left with a 2 x 5 ft void and a few smaller ones where the cabinets/walls used to stand.

My husband was able to thread in new planks though so we didn't have to change the floor. Our floor runs through the entire lower level so it would have been a lot more expensive to change the floors. It was much cheaper to do it that way and then just give it a light refinish.

If I get around to it, later today I'll post some before and afters.

So we are going to go with a GC - working with Kitchen& Bath Galleries but they may be too expensive. Any recommendations on reputable kitchen remodelers that are competitive price wise, reliable, and do things right?
