I may be working in the RTP area (Mooresville) and I want to try to stay under $200,000 for new construction. Can anyone recommend a safe neighborhood without a horrible commute maybe under 25 minutes?

Mooresville? That is not near RTP at all...I am assuming you really mean Morrisville between Durham and Cary?

I know one housing area that would fit the bill..but it's on the other end of RTP...though it is a great commute to that end of RTP.

New construction under 200 will probably have to be a townhome.
Morrisville is a great location to commute to RTP.

I would agree, a townhouse is probably your best bet. There are a number of listings, in that price range, in breckenridge (off of davis drive), which is a good commute to rtp.

I am sure there are others, but I was in breckenridge yesterday, so it made me think of that location.

Centex and Beazer are building single family homes under $200,000 up Mineral Springs Road, which is straight up Chapel Hill Rd./NC54/Miami Blvd, becoming Mineral Springs after you cross US 70.

You do mean "Morrisville," right?

There are several single family home options in the Garner/SE Raleigh area. -Should work for the 25 minute commute

You can research safety with the local gendarmes, who keep records on the various areas.

Nothing against Clayton, but while it may meet the new construction <$200K criteria, I doesn't come very close to meeting the second criteria of a 25 minute commute to RTP.

Default Brightleaf

There are some homes by Standard Pacific for just under 200k (base price, anyway) in Brightleaf (Hwy 70 and Sherron Road). I'd expect you'd end up over 200k, though.

There are several options near that part of Durham, though, that might work.

I am struggling to remember the names, though. You could go to REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale and do a search for new construction within, say, 12 miles of Morrisville to see what pops up under 200k.

Good luck,
Mike

That is the one I was thinking of. I drive by it every day on my way to work. I think Ravenstone..just before or past it...is more expensive.

Default Carefull

Buying new construction at that price point you are going to get a very un wanted area and a poor built home. I would find something a few years old that way any problems will have surfaced and your inspector will find. Always but area not house house you can fix or change if you buy in a bad area you can not change the fact that your neighbors do not take care of there house or if there is alot of crime.
