3. Any recommendations on an endocrinologist/hospital/Clinic?
I can help with one item:
This site mainly handles pumpers but since pumpers use endos, it's a good place to start. And since most pumpers are type I's, it's a safe bet, these endos work with kids. Liz Insulin Pumpers Physician Referral
Personally for any kind of a major medical issue I'd have a preference for hauling the kids to UNC. Wake Med Raleigh also has a good Children's Center. Even though I live in Cary, I use a pediatrician affiliated with UNC because my kids have had such good medical care there. Fortunately my physician is not actually at the main UNC hospital site, and I'll confess that getting in and out of there when I need to can be a little painful, and the admin staff are sometimes less than cheerful, but every doctor I've ever seen at UNC has been worth it.
thank you for the responses. greatly appreciate it. If any of the readers have relatives/friends with a similar condition it would be great if you could get some more information from them.
I'm a type II diabetic but I am in the Wilmington metro area. That's why I knew about the Insulin Pumpers site and the list of endos on it.
The thing about that list is it is put together from parents or patients who have used those endos. It is NOT a list that doctors can put themselves on like any other list. Patients or the parents of patients have to put them on it. Liz
My brother has had type 1 since he was 7. He is now 30 and has a Doctor/specialist in Chapel Hill I believe. The ADA has an office on Blue Ridge Rd. here in Raleigh.
