It was supposed to open December 1st. I'm shocked that the Triangle Expressway is open before it!! All they had to do was put up a building & stock it!!

An Aldi in Durham???? News to me. Where?? We drive to the one in Cary every week; it's a bit of a hike.

Edit: Looks like 751 and I-40, which won't make it much closer to me than the one in Cary. Poo.

There's one being built in Wake Forest in front of Walmart, opening late winter.

Thanks to the persistence and digging of a fellow yelper I've been informed it'll be opening on Jan. 12th. There should be a mention about it in "Buzz" in the Herald Sun on Monday....but you heard it here first!!

The one time I went into Aldi I really didn't get it. It didn't seem to have much in stock. Maybe I went at a bad time? Or maybe I went in expecting one thing and finding another? What is the appeal of Aldi for those that shop there regularly?

We've shopped at the store in Ann Arbor MI a couple of times. Their draw seems to be low prices, but the products seem to be all off-brands and the inventory is never consistent. If you buy something and absolutely love it, you may never see it sold there again.

I guess it is good for low prices on staple type goods if you are not a brand loyal shopper. You will need to shop at a traditional full range grocery store immediately after to get the items Aldi didn't stock that day.

Carts cost 25 cents to rent but you get your money back when you return the cart. Lots of people don't know this and abandon the carts in the parking lot after they load the groceries in their cars. Returning all of these abandoned carts yields you 25 cents per cart! Great way for the neighborhood kids to get candy money.

Yay!!! We love Aldis but since moving our trip is 40 minutes to the one in Cary...hardly worth it. Very excited to hear the Durham one will be opening soon. I think the great thing about Aldi's is even though you only have one or two options theirs are usually as good as the brand name. Thanks for spreading the info!

Wake Forest gets an Aldi!

Main Street, off of US-1 near Wal-Mart and Arbys, across from Arbys parking lot.

Firestone behind, Aldi in front......... They finished framing and roofing it, looks like another month....
