Does anyone else have "pet" deer in their yard? We just moved into our house in Chapel Hill and we have oak trees in the front yard. Apparently deer love to eat acorns. Yesterday, whenever I stepped out of my front door there were three or four deer eating the acorns and paying little or no attention to me. Very cool!

We sometimes get deer in our yard in Falls River. We're on the edge of the community across the street from the wetlands that lead down to the Neuse River. They don't usually hang around for very long though because the dog goes crazy barking at them.

We had them last year in our backyard several times. Reminded me of growing up in CT except the houses are too close!

They might seem cute but up where I live in MA, as cute as they are, they're a nuisance.

1. Deer ticks. 'Nuff said!
2. They eat my hosta, my holly, my azealeas and lots more. I can't plant tulips anymore. That's deer candy! I've not had a tulip come up and bloom in years. Now I plant bulbs they don't like. I've also torn out my hosta and other plants that they like to munch on and replaced them with things they don't like. My neighbors got so desperate last year, they put up a big (ugly) deer fence.
3. I almost hit one last night. Again.

We have four resident deer - a mother and what I presume are her three offspring. We normally only see the mother, but every now and then see one or more of the others.

Yes, they can and will eat bedding plants - they love our azaleas, roses, tulips, and so on. But since we've chosen to displace them buy building homes in their habitat, I'm more than willing to sacrifice a few plants on their behalf.

We've seen several deer in our backyard. I *love walking by a window and seeing them out there! It makes my day. I'd put out deer food if it was available. LOL

Default we have deer

we have a doe who had twins this year in the woods on our side property. So we watched them grow up and frolic around

They know my scent and my husbands scent, but if a stranger is around they will snort an alert and take off deep in the woods.

I'm not a deer fan up here only because lyme disease is such an issue. But for the most part, they are cute. I have a funny deer story. Years ago, when we first got married, we lived in Marin County, CA. One morning my husband was driving me to the ferry (to go to work in the City) and it was really foggy out. If you've lived in the West or visited, you know how thick West Coast fog can be. I didn't have my glasses on or my contacts in. There was a deer in the street. I asked my husband what our dog was doing outside. We had a Doberman at the time and I guess I saw the little deer bobtail and thought it was the back end of our Dobie. LOL. She was big but not *that* big.

He still likes to make fun of me for that one!
