Looks like the urban chicken issues is on the February 9th Cary City Council meeting. You can read the main points of the proposal to allow backyard chickens here:

Council Initiated Request - Backyard Hens

I like the part where you can't let the chickens roam around your front yard unsupervised!

The chickens in our neighborhood are actually pretty good about staying in their yard. I've never seen one of them cross the road just to get to the other side.

Yeah and they are pretty rough. I drive by them every morning on my way to work off Davis dr/NSalem on the edge of Apex. They are always looking at me funny! Who knows what they're into.

This is awesome, awesome news!

I wonder if a dog is enough supervision for the front yard? LOL! When we used to have chickens they would free range in the yard and if they got too close to the road my dog would herd them away from it.

It's at the end of the agenda and I heard that there won't be much opportunity to speak. But I guess you never know in things like this.
