I think we finally have a free weekend and no one is sick. Is there something fun for us to do this weekend? We are in Chapel Hill but can travel if the activity is interesting enough. Let me know what you will be doing so that I can steal your ideas! Thanks.

LOL...you mean the sort of maybe, could be if the planets align just right, low presure that could form and might, if it doesn't do 8 other things, bring some rain the some parts of NC?

I don't think I'd change my plans just yet.

Jackie, you may not want to go out on Saturday night. That's when Torchwood starts airing on BBC America! Any self-respecting Dr. Who fan should stay in & order pizza. But in case you decide to leave the house anyway ...

Raleigh's First Friday has been mentioned in other threads.

The Theatre in the Park group at Pullen Park is performing the hilarious play, "The Complete History of America (abridged)".

MrsSteel/Mary,

My girls are so sad. They've had Torchwood written on the calendar for months. But this apartment where we're staying only has basic cable so we don't have BBC America. I feel so bad for them. They don't mind missing the new Dr Who series on BBC America as they've already seen those episodes on Sci-Fi channel.

Jackie

Don't know if you have any soccer fans at home but the defending National Champion UNC Women's Soccer team will be playing at home this weekend in the Nike Carolina Classic.

2 of my daughters play soccer and we will be at Fetzer for a couple of the games this weekend.....

Thank you SO MUCH for posting that, DRMAdvisor! For some reason I thought that was going on next weekend. I might have missed it if it weren't for you.

Here's a webpage that shows who will be performing during the festival.

If you have kids take them to see Paperhand Puppets at the NC Art Museum ampitheater. It is incredible. It is playing Friday and Saturday nights. These are not your everyday puppets, but huge puppets....hard to describe.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention

I would also recommend First Friday. If your kids aren't into the arts/creative stuff, but more science oriented, try the First Friday events at the Museum of Natural Science downtown.
