We didn't have ours permanently installed - we just had John put our goal together for us (which he did by himself in about an hour). Think he charged $100 for that but I can't remember.
Woodplay of the Carolinas had lower prices than Dicks they sell the Goalrilla goals so don't do portable ones (which was ok because we wanted an adjustable height/permanent mount). They charged $329 for their installation and came out for free first to determine the best place to put the goal if we wanted them too. They located our area, then came out and put in the anchor system and a few days later put up the goal for our sons birthday. No issues at all and really professional. They do lots of commercial work for parks and schools and their prices were the best so we went with them and it was great.
Why not a portable if it is just for fun. If you are serious, then in ground install is best, however a good quality 72" backboard in ground will cost $1500+ install or more. Amaz0n has free shipping.
Well, I originally got John's contact info from this forum and we finally got around to getting our own hoop. John Eberle took care of us as everyone promised. You must contact this guy if you are looking for advice and installation of a new basketball goal system.
