Hypothetically speaking, if someone had a home on the market right now, where would the Realtor's out there recommend that we post? Obviously have it on MLS, which gets pulled for many other sites is a must, but are there any super secret locations that we should be aware of?

We have already been recommended to NOT use Craigslist. Any other thoughts out there?

Kind Regards,
Matt

Depending on the type of home, I have friends that have had great success advertising in the Independent Weekly. But keep in mind the clientele that regularly read that paper before deciding to advertise in there.

Craigslist. For sure.
With anonymous email from CL.

You want traffic and CL delivers web traffic.

Have you tried YouTube? I'm taking a class on how to add a listing to YouTube. Thought it couldn't hurt!

Most full service Real Estate companies advertise on about 30 companies ONLINE. Ask your Agent where she is advertising.

With all that being said, I think putting a listing on MLS is going to get you the most traffic through your home. I had a graph a couple of years ago that showed "where your buyer came from" and it was something like 90% see your listing online. However, that included buyers and Agents that search online.

Oh, yeah. I'm livin' that life.

It would be smart to gin up a Hotmail or Yahoo email for CL use.
I wish I had a long time ago.

But, if the OP wants exposure, CL is one place to get a lot of it.

I've been lucky so far with CL and haven't received spam from a listing. But I'm also selling stuff like used gardening tools on there so I doubt the spammers think I'm worth spamming lol.

Do you (or anybody out there) know what these CL spammers are really looking for? We advertise a vacation rental and they will often write a paragraph or two and say they will very interested but they never follow up or ask for any personal information from me. Are they just after an email address? If so, it seems like a hard way to do it? Any spammers want to share their secrets?

Identity theft and general nuisance.

Bots are pretty good at harvesting email addresses, so it is pretty effortless.
