I was wondering how much people who live in apartments are paying for water these days. We live in an apartment community in western Cary and pay about $0.01/gallon ($10.00 per 1000 gallons) and I'm assuming this includes sewer and water fees. We use around 6000 gallons a month.
Wow 6000 gallons is A LOT of water. Might be time to take military-style showers We use about 2500 gallons a month and that's with me watering the garden.
I prefer not to get into this discussion as I'm sure our hygiene is better than the average American. For example, we each take two showers a day whereas most people I talk to only take one, we do laundry very often, etc. Also, everything in the apartment has high pressure which I'm sure contributes to the problem.
In any case, I'm really interested in knowing how much people pay per use to know if I should complain or just try to use less water.
We live about ten minutes from Cary , but in Raleigh and our water is free ... im assuming it cant be that high for our entire complex to have free water

You pay a penny a gallon and you want to know if you should complain? If the water was any cheaper they would be paying you for your 14 showers a week.
North_Raleigh_Guy, as you can see from the posts above some people don't even have to pay for water. We moved to this area from the Northeast and in that part of the country charging for Water/Sewer is almost unheard of when it comes to renting.
