We've closed on our house up north and are going into a temp housing situation in Holly Springs in the first week of July. They offered us a three month rental until the house is done. We just got word today that the house will be done at the end of July, possibly mid August. We really would like a month to month, but can't find anything, as we are a family of 7. Our rental will run about 5k for three months. I've called about hotels and extended stay locations all of which run about 5k per month! Any other ideas? We need to be In the holly springs area. Thanks!

3 months is about as good (short) as you can do, unless you're doing extended stay which does also cost a lot.

We stayed in the Towne Place Suites in Cary when we moved here and it was $90 a night. That's less than $3000 for a month. They include breakfast in that rate (no great shakes but it's one meal of cereal and bagels if you can deal with that).

Why do you need to be IN Holly Springs for this time period?

I suppose we don't need to be in HS, we just thought for ease of getting to and from the site and for school, should it start whilst in temp housing, it MIT be a bit easier. I suppose 15 mi utes in any direction would also work :-)

I'm not sure if you need a place furnished or not but check out the apartments near you and see what type of rate they'd offer for a month. When I lived in an apartment, my complex had one unit it rented out furnished to business travelers for the week. With the hotel or extended stay you might have an issue with the number of people permitted in the room as there is usually a cap on that.

Twingles is right -- 'corporate housing' is the keyword to ask about -- those type of apartments usually come fully furnished & can be had for short term leases -- you don't have to be working for a corporation to use them. We stayed in such a thing when we were house hunting b/c I had two little ones and really needed the full kitchen. The south side of raleigh/kildaire Farm road or near Lochmere might have apartments that offer this if you can't find anyplace in Holly Springs.

Look at Value Place - it's technically in Apex, but it's just a mile or 2 from Holly Springs. You could get 2 rooms (sleeping 8 total) for about 2,000/month + taxes.

Even corporate leases around here seem to have a 3-month minimum unless you have an established relationship with the rental agency. I ran into that a lot when I worked for a relocation services company in Raleigh.

It wouldn't hurt to take a peak at Craigslist. There are people in all kinds of special situations like you on there and you may be able to find something.
