We live in the Falls Lake area, +1acres, high maintenance costs, large home, but nice and quiet.

Upon or just prior to retirement, we would like to move into North Raleigh to cut down on travel, etc.

Requirements: We are looking for a home in the $350-$400K range, within walking distance to shops, dining, etc.

One consideration is the area around North Hills (Yadkin, Pamilco streets, etc). I get the impression that this is a stable community, with potential to increase in value.

Another consideration is the Stonehenge or Greystone communities.

Can anyone comment on the communities I listed, or maybe have other suggestion?

Thanks

I'd totally choose the North Hills area if I were in your shoes and desired to live in N. Raleigh.

That would be a fine area. You might strongly consider a townhouse at Ramblewood, and I *think* there will be some patio homes built there also. Your maintenance cost would go near zero, save the HOA dues, you'd still have a nice and not dated condition or layout home.
