Mellow Mushroom has good pizza and salads that's about it. Families go there and there are a lot of children some really unruly. I like kids but I don't like when they push, jump around play and dance right behind you while you are eating. The majority crowd is hippie like as well. Don't care for it. Carolina Ale House is okay for drinks but it is smoky and its best if you bring your own friends. Alot of desperate people there. If you are desperate and are looking for this then this your place to be.
Crowleys I heard had good music and a good crowd. Wild Turkey Lounge is full of cigar smoke as well. Don't like stoogies and the furniture is old and dated.
Hiberian Pub is okay, Hayes Barton Cafe is good for dates and lunch. Bahama Breeze has excellent tropical drinks and the patio is nice in the summer and spring.
42nd Street is the excellent choice. Good southern fresh food, clean, excellent service, live bands no cover and no drink mininum. Good well trained staff. The best seafood bisque between MD and SC as well. Good for singles as well as couples.
Haven't been to the others. Yancey's is nice with jazz bands. There is a new Blues Club off of Glenwood South I haven't been yet. There is also a new bar in Greystone Shopping Center. I have heard good comments about it.
The Point smells like Moth Balls, not very clean, the food is bad and the service is lacking. If you like moth balls and you like bad food and poor service then your place to be.
If you want to wild good time then go to Tir Na Nog. There is a live band and the place is really fun. Also the Hideway Barbecue Bar has a good bar and live country bands.
