Families with young children, care to share your plans for the spring break from school? We have an almost 6 year old and a 16 month old and am trying to plan some fun actvities for family fun.
My older one wants to go to the beach , but I am not very keen, it will be too cold for my comfort level......

Any suggestions?
Thanks

We're going to Life and Science in Durham and the new Children's Museum in Graham. We have a weekend trip up to Virginia planned, too. How about an indoor swimming pool? It's supposed to be warmer next week, so the beach might not be too bad for sandcastle building.

we've learned the hard way that spring break is not a good time for the beach-just too cold to go in the water and too windy for sitting on the beach. we have a bunch of day trips planned-mostly cause of 4 pets. Going to see friends in Charlotte, museums in raleigh, and a few other things to see and do. Frankly I don't think anything would be too fun with a 16 month old baby. Our girls are 11 and traveling with them is now fun.

Thank you for your inputs. I do think the beach will be too cold. I am leaning towards a trip to marbles and maybe the zoo....

I can't imagine going to the beach-we went to FL for spring break 2 years ago and even there it was cold/windy on the beach-but Orlando was 90 degrees, so I can't imagine how chilly it would be here.
My daughter is coming for her first visit to NC (we're new here) and we're trying to find things to do with her and our younger kids-but don't have a ton of money right now with my "high paying" teacher job-haha!!
I hope more people throw out suggestions on places to go since our kids range from 6-26 and the 6 year old is like a toddler due to a disability, so nothing to intense (or quiet).

Looks like it will be a fairly nice weekeed at the beach. Too cold for swimming but it will likely be nice enough to play out on the beach in the sun, fish, fly kits, throw frisbees and just run around!

We go down every year for easter and the kids have a blast even if they have to wear a light jacket. It's usually pretty warm in the sun. There's also the aquarium and an awesome children's museum in Wilmington. Lots to do down there!

This is Easter Weekend. North Carolinians have long made this weekend the unofficial kickoff of spring and head to the beach if at all possible. The weather at the coast looks chilly but sunny, and that's good enough for me. I'm going to the beach Thursday and be home by 1:00 Sunday for lunch at my mom's

How about great wolf lodge? We aren't going there but it's close, indoors and fun.
