I still shop there but I've very careful to look over the labels.

OP, you might also consider Lowes Foods. I don't know how much organic stuff they carry, but it's clean, well lit and products are generally of high quality. It is a bit more expensive than a Kroger.

I live 2 blocks from Lowes and find them to be pricey. Whole Foods beats them on many items.

I agree. I find many things at Whole Foods cheaper than elsewhere. You just have to know your prices and shop in a couple of a different places.

Have to say I was pretty underwhelmed when I went to Earth Fare. It was nice enough, but just didn't appeal to me.

Haven't had the best experience with Lowe's Foods either. I've bought meat several times and had to return it because it had turned. And this is after coming home from the store, so it's not like I let it sit in the fridge a few days or anything.

The difference between here and city I lived in Ohio is the prices and availkability of good stuff. Dry fruits, produces,... I love to cook/eat so it's a little frustrating but it could be worse. I mean at least we have Trader Joe's (didn't have it in city I lived in Ohio), whole food and Harris Teeter (I really liked it when I went shopping yesterday: very clean store, very nice employees and good products). It's my first week in Raleigh, I'm sure in few weeks I will find more places to shop from
I hate to admit, before we moved here, I DID Not shop at Wal mart, but my hubby does a lot of the shopping and goes there for some things because they are cheaper and we can't find a store with the selection and prices we're accustomed to. Wal mart doesnt have that great of a selection, but our closest store is Food Lion, and they are very small. I did find that Lowes and Harris Teeter (no HT clse to me) have nicer looking produce, but MUCH more $$-grapes on sale at Kroeger@ >99/lb and I paid 3.00/lb at HT and they were SOUR! (was just in the area so grabbed some).

Why on earth would you drag a cashier over to the product? The cashier is the LAST person you should go to. Cashiers are instructed never to leave their register. The Customer Service desk is the appropriate place to bring this information to. They then contact the grocery manager who will deal with it. Cashiers are not the dump all for every problem you have in a store.
