My daughter noticed this morning that our yard was covered with spider webs. Little ones in patches in the grass, and big ones stretching between the trees and the house. Is it spider season or something?

Aw hewl naw! That is not okay! Spiders are year round here in the south but the amount changes with the seasons. They are much more numerous in spring and stay plentiful throught summer and then when fall arrives they WILL try to get inside the warm environs of our homes when it gets cold outside so make sure to spray Raid/Blag Flad/etc. etc. in abundance around doors and windows and around garages and such especially the start of spring and Fall time. And whenever you see webs like the ones pictured above..

All preceding Spider Advice given is from my upcoming Memoirs entitled "Confessions of an Arachnaphobe" Available this Fall jk.

Yes. Fall is spider season. They've been growing all summer. You will see some beautiful spiders and webs if you keep your eyes open. Here are a couple of argiopes I shot last Sept.

There was a lovely dew on the grass this morning which made their webs apparent. Hate to tell you but they probably have been there and you haven't noticed....

Garden spiders (photo above) are pretty cool. I like how they will vibrate their web if they feel threatened to make themselves appear more fierce then they really are. I have come to appreciate some spiders, even though I'm still not a big fan.
