I noticed a very large parcel of land on the north/west side of 15/501 between SW Durham Parkway and Garrett Road has been cleared of trees.

Does anyone know what it going on there?

I thought it might be the new rail line but that's supposed to be on the other side of 15/501.

Thanks.

There is suppose to be a 322-unit apartment complex near the Patterson Place shopping center. Is this what you are referring to?

No, that's actually on SW Durham Dr.

The clearing I'm talking about is just north of that on 15/501. It starts at the Veterinary Office/Kennel and goes north to where the power lines cross 15/501. Much of it is hidden by a single line of trees close to the road.

I believe this is the area being discussed. It's a collection of about 9 parcels owned by OAKRIDGE 58 INVESTORS PARTNERS based in Raleigh. On a side note, whomever decided to draw the eastern boundary of these parcels must have been drunk.

Probably either a mixed use shopping center or apartments. Maybe both.

That's it!!! Thanks.

If you can find any more information or remember where you got the above, I'd appreciate it. I live right next to this and don't look forward to hearing the construction.

The squiggly boundary is New Hope Creek.

You could try combing through all of these:
City of Durham - Current Submittals 2013

I did a quick look but quickly got annoyed. Wish there was an easier way to pull development information. There is the Development Tracker, but it doesn't show anything for that site currently (by clicking "Development Case Search" at the top when it loads).

Could be they haven't filed yet and are just cutting all the trees on the site for lumber to get income.

Yeah, Durham's development info site is not that easy to use. I tried doing some looking also and found nothing. I also googled the owner name and came up with nothing. Not a registered corp in NC either.
