What is a roadrunner? If cable is installed and I get more tvs for other rooms (I only have one now but plan on them in the guest rooms and my room), will I need to get something different? What is better, TWC, DirecTV, or Dish? Also what would you recommend for internet. I use all this stuff but don't understand the technology at all! Moving to Bedford in North Raleigh. Thanks!

Roadrunner is the cable internet service from TWC. As long as you have cable outlest in the rooms you want to use, you do not need to do anything else with TWC. Most new homes have the outlets already installed, so you probably do. You don't need to have roadrunner to get cable. (Though I love having high speed internet.)

Some folks like DirecTV and Dish....I've never had a problem with TWC, so I've never looked into them.

I tried talking to the TWC guy over the phone and he was talking about a different charge for wireless internet than regular internet. What is that about? My desktop does not have wireless capability but my laptop does and my visitors (kids) bring their laptops. I used to have my router on my desktop computer. I AM CONFUSED!

I have both roadrunner/cable and Directv. Roadrunner is far superior to satellite internet and has been my ISP of choice since it was first offered here in 1999. I did have a brief stint with sat internet when I lived in the country for a year and it was slow and unreliable. TWC does charge a small monthly fee for wireless, but it isnt much. In regards to cable tv, you dont need receivers in every room with cable to get cable channels. With sat you have to have individual receivers and you have to buy them(twc rents them to you for a few bucks a month) I have it set up so the kids bedroom tv's just get basic cable with no receiver (and therefore no adult oriented channels) while we have receivers in the family and master which get everything. With sat I would need 5 receivers. I do have Directv HD in my master for the NFL package though and I just suspend my service during the offseason. I will say that Directv has better and more HD content.
The wireless router will sit on your desk just like your wired router. It will connect to your PC via USB or wireless.
