I remember about 1 year ago I was driving to Augusta and while passing through the Charlotte metro I counted 9 Ontario plates. Was really weird.

I'm going to post my graph in here later tonight after adding about 3 days worth of tallies. I knew those would be most common, but I wanted to take actual numbers and visualize it in a graph lol.

There is a BP in Durham at Cornwallis / 55 that closed not too long ago and now has a construction sign up in front of it. Wonder if it's being converted to one of these.

AT&T Fiber went out twice today.

Just for a few minutes, but enough to be disruptive and kick me off my work network.

not acceptable

I wonder what kind of lies and BS Hunter Harrison used today at his STB hearing
he was ordered to attend? I feel for anyone working for CSX these days...

Weird, saw a report today that said kansas folks like raleigh lol. Whats with all the VA , it certainly is the most amount of out of state plates i see. Are these folks from NOVA moving in ( dont think so), or just folks in the area due to our proximity to VA? I havent counted but after VA the most plates i saw were Texas plates then NY plates. Also, 419! In just 3 weeks... wtf ... thanks for posting this, maybe ill do something similiar for my area!

I wouldn't say I've seen more TX plates than NY plates; but I have definitely seen a trend of more and more TX plates here recently...even pre-Harvey.

I feel like FL plates have overtaken NY plates for most-commonly-spotted in my experience. And it's harder to miss the NY plates now that they've made them bright yellow.

It's like all the NYers moved to FL first and then were like "nah F this I miss seasons and the only one we get here is hurricane season but I'm not going all the way back to NY...oh muy gawd the houses in NC are gorgeous and so much cheepa!"...and all the native FL folks were like "man F this all these damn NYers have ruined my home state...I'm dipping out for a state that is only their 2nd favorite relocation destination...and apparently there are no traffic rules there so I can finally drive however I want without getting honked at!"

I think I only have 1 Kansas tallied here...I remember seeing quite a few when I lived in Carrboro, but definitely not as many in Raleigh. Virginia - I figured it would be #1 but I didn't think it would be by such a large margin...guess it makes sense though. I was also wondering if it was NOVA transplants vs proximity, but I guess it's probably both. The Triangle really isn't too far from the VA line. Probably quite a few travelers too. Just want to note that I did not include semi-trucks, work trucks/vans with a company logo on it, or Uhaul/Penske type box trucks.

As for TX over NY, I also noticed an uptick in TX plates even before Harvey...the amount of TX did surprise me, however. NY does have an advantage though, because they have front plates and that ugly yellow is easily identifiable. I have a few NY tallied that I saw on the opposite side of the road. I know I missed a few that were on the opposite side - either TX, MA, CA or VA...all plain white plates with plain lettering.

You should make one too, it's really interesting especially for metrics/data nerds like me hahaha. I'd be interested in comparing especially based on your location vs mine. Most of these were from Raleigh and Morrisville.

You also need to take into account that there are military instillations not too far from the Triangle and they will always have a lot of out of state plates.
