I like the okra from Zayka.

Had to throw that in the mix.

Pizza - it depends on the type you like. Randys is good if you want NY style. If you want wood fired visit Pizzaria Toro in Durham. The ingredients are top notch and the appetizers are also excellent.

You did not ask for BBQ but since you will be in Morrisville I would say to visit Smokey's BBQ Shack! The meats are great and the signs on the wall will keep you laughing while you order!
Thanks for the varying information on the Pizza, as I like both kinds!

I didn't ask for BBQ myself because I'm vegetarian, and BBQ houses don't typically cater to me haha.

Still though, I'm glad you posted it anyway, I'm sure the information will be beneficial to others! Thus, the purpose of a forum. Woohoo!

IIRC, the original owners of Saffron opened a new Saffron in Chapel Hill at the big complex at NC 54 and US 15/501 (where the Aloft Hotel is), and supposedly sold the old location (don't know that for sure). We've been to the new location in Chapel Hill and been delighted. We used to go to the one in Morrisville and have not enjoyed our last few visits.

Try The Pit then - they offer barbecued tofu. While I'm a committed omnivore and can't not order their barbecue, I've also been there for a few office parties and the vegetarians in our office roundly praised the tofu.

For Indian Food: - Home (It is a buffet, although I'm sure you could order off the menu if you wanted to). In general, anything South Indian is what you want to look for.

For good ecclectic dining, try Irregardless in Raleigh (Been around some 40-ish years. Always good. They have meat options too, but cater to vegetarians.)

Still love and recommend Sitti and they will have many options for you. Perhaps one of my favorite places in the area.

In general, most of the foodie-ish places will have something for you. The one notable exception is Mexican food. If you are true vegetarian, you'll want to be very careful where you eat Mexican, and probably avoid the truly authentic places. I can't remember if it was mentioned or not, but Centro in DT Raleigh is a great option. Mexican influence with a true culinary flair. I'm not a veg, so I'm not 100% sure, but I'd be willing to bet they have a few options for you. (Maybe Dos Perros in Durham too. If not, just stick to the Tequila menu which is in fact verified vegetarian...)

Also, for an unexpected good meal, try Tangerine. It's in a non-descript strip mall on Cary Pkwy at Old Apex, next to the Food Lion. Very good pan-Asian cuisine. (The pizza at Salvios, next door, is also 'pretty good'. Just make sure you ask them to cook it well done.)

I'm a foodie and my wife and I moved to Morrisville in August. I'll say this - get used to driving 25-30 minutes for the "best" food. There are some good options around, though. Randy's Pizza is some of the best NY style pizza I've had outside of NY. Cafe Caturra is very very good. I've yet to find decent Chinese or Mexican anywhere "close" though there are plenty of options in Raleigh and Durham.

You probably won't find a ton of decent Chinese ANYWHERE in the Triangle, though I can say that Red Dragon over in Five Points rarely disappoints.

Since you are vegetarian I'd add Fiction Kitchen, Irregardless Cafe and Remedy Diner to the mix.

While I'm not sure it is "foodie" level, Spring Rolls in North Hills has some interesting vegetarian choices. Ashee in Cary has good Ethiopian, and is vegetarian friendly. I also like Unaabi Grill for Afghan food (just ignore the fact that it's located in an old Pizza Hut building).

Also, check out the two vegetarian/vegan Meetup groups in the area - they are quite active, and usually meet at local vegan friendly restaurants multiple times a month. Oh, and there is also the Triangle Vegetarian Society, that holds a huge vegan Thanksgiving each year that definitely *is* foodie level.
