I'm looking for a new vet. I'm not real happy with my current vet (magnolia animal hospital) and am looking for a highly recommended vet who understands issues with big dogs but mainly German Shepherds and their issues.
We moved here a year and a half ago and 3 days into our move, our dog needed to go see a vet. On a whim, we found Dr. Fisher (Fisher Veterinary Hospital) off Gresham Lake Rd. and what a blessing he is! He is not only cares for every animal that walks through his door, but he treats them as his own. While I would pay almost anything for his passion and expertise, from what I've heard, his prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for a giant multi-vet, this isn't for you, as it's only Dr. Fisher and his small staff, but everyone at Fisher Vet is like family.
I also love Doc Fisher. I have had several vets over the years and this is the first time I've felt like it is someone who truly cares for my animal. His prices are far more reasonable than what I was paying before and he does not up the bill for unnecessary procedures. He is open, honest, and real. I can't recommend him enough,
Bayleaf vet. I've had experiences with all their vets, our main one being dr. Christopher Kelly. My parents live nearby and even though we moved 5hrs away, we visit enough that we STILL take our dogs to bayleaf for check ups. I have never found a better vet practice.
We used to go to Bowman Animal Hospital which is off of Creedmoor (Hwy 50). It's a handful of doctors and I had some very good experiences there. I saw Dr. Hunt (She learned accumpuncture like Dr. Bowman and Dr. Alley knows. I was very comfortable with her), Dr. Bowman (for a while when Dr Alley was not available. She was GREAT!), Dr. Alley (most of the time. Great communication and report with the animals), and Dr. Merrimen (SP?). I know Dr. Alley left to make her own practice in Morrisville (I'd go to her in a heartbeat. She's awesome with dogs and can do just about anything with both conventional medicine to more holistic and herbal). I think Dr. Merrimen left as well. I only saw her briefly for an emergency. She was nice too. I don't go there anymore because they are far from where I live. I'd still go if Dr. Alley wasn't so close. I also don't have any dogs anymore, because they both passed of old age, but I had a German Shepherd Mix and Siberian Husky so you know the size of the dogs I had.
Shiloh Animal Hospital is in Morrisville. That is where Dr. Alley is now. She has a new practice there and has added another vet to the business. I couldn't speak more highly of her. I don't know the vet she's with but I hear he's good. Someone from here saw this man and had a good experience.
I would second the Bowman recommendation as we've found them to be remarkably thorough and very effective in treating special situations we've had. They also have super convenient hours which makes it easy to schedule appointments. But they're also not cheap which sometimes interferes with the decision making process (e.g. whether or not to go, which treatments/exams make the most sense, etc.).
