When someone is drunk driving and plows into someone killing them and their, family people say "what are the police doing to stop this?" Now that they are attempting something to deter people from drinking and driving it's "unconstitutional and an annoyance." Are you the same person who complains that airport security is too "tight" (even though they really aren't and need to be better trained and actually care) but was one of the first to wonder "how did this happen" after 9/11? No method is perfect, no method makes everyone happy but if that DUI checkpoint pulls one person off the road and keeps someone from dying that specific night.....I am all for it.
I sometimes I wonder why the gov't won't install in-home security cameras in our homes. I've been waiting for my under skin microchip for awhile now. Also why isn't everyone forced to keep an electronic log of our everyday activities. If safety means handing over privacy and freedom, then you can have it!
Interestingly, former Cary PD Chief Cunningham is now one of four finalists for the chief's job in Winston-Salem. Of course, Winston-Salem will have the same city manager form of government that Cary does. On the other hand, it is a department with over 500 officers, which be a step up for him. He had been asst. Chief in the larger Tampa, FL PD. How do you folks think he would do in Winston?
Thanks also, as it may add insight into future goings on here in little ole Wake Forest when and if we approach the size of Cary. But for now in Wake Forest its just deciding if they will add a Steinmart or a Kohl's somewhere up here in the not so distant future.
