Still not sure why it is so annoying.

But then, I live close to a street so I'm used to noise!
In NY I lived not far from a major hwy and a regional airport. Give me highway and airplane noise any day over this awful bird!

The ear plugs do work, however, my ears are starting to get sore and irritated - even though they're soft foam. I just wish the darn thing would move on already. Go bug someone else! I have been fantasizing about moving!!

If you own your home, get some decent windows, if renting then move. Birds chirping shouldn't penetrate decent double paned windows, at least not to the point of still being heard through something like a white noise machine. You can also order windows with improved insulation from sound.

For a cheaper interim solution try one of those ultrasonic bird repellers or the owls with the rotating head.

That's gonna be a tough adjustment.

The others have given you good advice.
As I mentioned in a previous post - I don't mind birds at all. I grew up in suburbia, I like birds! BUT - not this mockingbird creep!

It does sound like others have been annoyed, as well. Why else have so much online about mockingbirds?!!

I sleep with earplugs...hubby snores...LOUDLY!

We once had a bird's nest in our chimney. We only noticed it when we started hearing lots of chirping coming from it. We called in someone to removed the birds but were told they could NOT be removed. We had to wait until they were big enough to leave the nest and then we put something to keep the birds out of the chimney.

It's not like they were paying rent!

We have so many mockingbirds around our house. We have a holly hedge all around the inside of our fence and they love to nest in that thing. There were usually be 3-4 each year. It is always funny to see our dogs watching them and the birds cannot really get in the yard as the dogs will go after them, but will drop straight down in the bush. They can be mean and in early spring, they tend to wake up early, but we have not had issues at night really.

Same here. They love our holly. No problems at night, and I can't hear them during the day unless I'm right by a window or outdoors.

Hmmm. Let me see... Do you know what it's after? Besides your sanity, I mean?

The only birds that really bother me are woodpeckers, but I can see how annoying a constant noise you don't like might be.
