What sort of person would even want to do this? Those with tinfoil hats gearing up for the inevitable coup d'état that is certain to take place over funnel cake recipes I'm sure.
With the kind of crowds they get at the fair, I really hope they don't allow this.
Guns will be there by the thugs I am sure, so the idea of
some responsible people with concealed carry permits having guns
actual makes me feel better...
Don't be so naive as to think the low lifes coming to the fair will
pay attention to the "no weapon" sign...
I'm a bit doubtful anyone would be interested in going into the fair to pull some ****. Very crowded, heavy police presence, limited avenues of escape... those who have to walk to their cars parked on 54 or whatever side street so that they don't have to pay out the nose to park at the fair (let's face it, those prices are absurd) would be much more likely to be a mark than anyone inside the fair would.
Anyhow, apparently my mockery of the OP's "sky is falling" reaction didn't go over too well, but I said originally that it's not going to happen. NC law prohibits carrying in any establishment or event which charges admission, and an exception for the state fair is simply not going to happen. So the panic is over nothing.

Plenty of uniformed and undercover officers on site eliminate the need for private weapons.
It's amazing how much fear there is in this country and how many people who think that their fear is eradicated by carrying heat themselves. What could possibly go wrong? Sad......very sad.
I totally understand the urge to carry a firearm if you are entering a dangerous zone (think a war zone, or a violence infested neighborhood). If we are wanting to carry guns nearly everywhere for personal protection, that behavior is at odds with the high level of personal safety assured in the USA than in other countries.
I seriously doubt people need to go to a fun place like the state fair armed with personal weapons. It isn't like you need to travel to Iraq or Sudan to attend the state fair.

I'm sure all are fully trained in shooting in a crowd, managing the adrenaline surge that comes with such a scenario, and of course will sign affidavits on entering that they won't drink alcohol or be abusing their Oxycodone from their last surgery that they're "still in pain from", also that they are mentally stable enough to handle the crowd at the fair which has made me want to shoot someone.
