Hi, there,
My heat pump for the downstairs won't spin, the heat pump gets very warm to the touch but the fan doesn't spin.
Any idea who I can call and any guesses about how much it should cost?
Thank you!!
Sharon

I can recommend Holly Springs Heating and Air - Gary Koblich - 552-8544

They are neighbors of mine - honest and ethical. If he can help you, he'll let you know.

Cost, etc. I can't help with at all - I'm clueless about that stuff....

Good luck!

I, however, do not recommend them. He was very disrespectful, walks around alot and won't standstill long enough to talk to you. It's annoying! Please just look people in the eye when you would like to speak with them. Also, doesn't seem to respect women much.

I'm in Cary and have used Airmakers of Raleigh to service/tune up my HVAC system (twice a year). I had a problem with my heater once and they dispatched someone right away (same day service). No complaints.

Wow - I'm sorry to hear of that negative experience. That certainly hasn't been mine, but of course, they are neighbors... =) I do know about 6 families that trust him, but again, all are either neighbors or known. Maybe that makes a difference. Either way - hope the heat has been working this last week.

Sounds like the fan bearings are shot, but the possibility exists that the compressor has frozen up. I had a great a/c guy but he went into the sales side of the business last month and doesn't do service anymore. I have seen guys from Airmakers in action several times while inspecting and they were knowledgeable, professional techs.

We used Comfort Wizards to replace parts of our HVAC system...not sure where they are located, but we are in Holly Springs too....I thought they did a good professional job.

Smile Warm in Holly Springs now

Hi, All,
I just want to say thanks for the help. What happened was I got a DM almost right after I posted with the name of a heating contractor (Hyde Mechanical in Raleigh) from a city data member who's posts I've always liked and called them and they were wonderful. I wasn't sure who to call from the suggestions and then decided to just call the first recommendation that was given to me. It needed a new fan motor for 125, labor at 65 and a travel charge at 65 (they had to go all the way to Garner for the part) and it all came out to 255. Very nice folks, I will call them again if need be.
It is wonderful to come downstairs in the morning and not be freezing cold.
Thank you City Data folks!!!!!!
Sharon
