Any ideas anyone? We usually take 95, however some friends are telling us to take 17 from 40 and then follow directions. We plan to leave around 3pm and want to get there as soon as possible and trying to figure out the best possible route.

Thanks for any ideas.

D.

Assuming no construction (which is tough to assume on 17), both ways are about the same, iirc.

You could also jump off 95 just south of Fayetteville on 87 and drive through some lovely little towns (like Chadburn and such).

Any way you slice it, it seems to be about the same time.

we generally do the 95 to fayetteville to 87 route as well..........smaller towns, but we still get there at the same time as going 40 to 17

We have family in Myrtle Beach...closer to N. Myrtle Beach. We take 40 to 701s and take that (which is a country back road....pleasant drive) all the way to 9s to 31s to 22e to 17n (you are on these roads for a very short time). Look at a map, its one of the most direct ways. Though if its raining, we will take 95 as visibility is better.

Have fun!
Lauren

Thanks for the replies. We are planning to leave this afternoon around 3pm. Would you all recommend taking 95 or the back roads?

I have done both and I vote for 95. If you get stuck behind a slow poke (like we did) it is torture because some of those roads going through towns are one lane.
