I have paid $65 a month so $16.25 a lesson from a teacher with a bachelor's degree in piano. I have also paid $125 a month to a teacher with advanced degrees, part of the local piano teacher's groups, etc... There was a big difference between the two but he loved them both.
We are now with a clarinet teacher and pay $250 a month for one hour lessons weekly. He as advanced degrees as well and is a working professional. The other nice thing is he can teach him both the clarinet and bass clarinet as my son plays both. He is at a local music school.
My daughter takes lessons at her teacher's home in Raleigh. We pay $42 for 45 minutes. We also pay $15 once a month for a group class and purchase her music books. I think the cost is a little steep, but the teacher is excellent and I appreciate that she schedules several performance opportunities during the year, as well as participating in Young Artists Auditions and Piano Guild.
