As easy as it is to see the political boogieman behind every shrub, fact of the matter is it's not even remotely unusual to have former reporters and journalists take government positions as public information officials.

If I had a nickle for every TV news person that went to work as a flak, I'd be drinking little umbrella cocktails on a white sandy beach.

The more interesting story is her decision to stay in the area rather than pack up and work the TelePrompTer in another market somewhere.

Jackie Hyland was too classy and big market for WRAL. I heard they wanted to cut her salary and she wasn't having it, good for her.
