Thanks for the warning. I've just posted this to their FB page. I'll update this thread when I get a response.

re: Hatch Chile Roast in Raleigh. Your previous reply to my question about this years dates was: "8/29-8/30 Raleigh - 13210 Strickland rd - Falls Pointe shopping center. Signs will be posted in the near future. Con5act the store for exact times." Well, I've contacted the store, and they don't know anything about it. Can you help, PLEASE????
Thanks for your message back. We're very sorry! Our Merchandising team will be setting this up and will place signage at the store as we get closer to the date and I apologize for any confusion. Our store knows they're coming, but just not the dates or times yet because our merch. team is the ones who will be roasting the peppers. As we get closer to the dates, they should put signs up stating the times.
Hatch chiles are from New Mexico. They range from medium hot to super hot. They are available fresh for only about 4 weeks a year. They are a staple for real Mexican food if you want it hot. The flavor is similar to Anaheim peppers. These are not the milder peppers used for chile rellenos.
you can roast them at home but it's a pain. For two days, HT brings in huge chile roastering baskets and fire roasts them. You buy them by the bagfull, take them home, peel them, then put them in freezer bags for future use.
last year I purchased nearly 30 pounds of these things. Took me 3 days to peel them all.
huh I had no idea you could buy fresh roasted hatch chiles outside of NM. My sister in ABQ is sending me a couple pounds from her neighborhood tienda haha. Maybe I should tell her to hold off.

What do you make with them? I love the Harris teeter hatch chili salsa
