Quick question - if we buy in West Lake / Park at West Lake - are we considered Town of Cary residents?

I was looking at the Cary Parks and Rec registrations and saw that Cary residents can register three weeks in advance of non-residents. Just wondering where West Lake falls for parks and rec purposes - Cary or Apex?

Thanks!

RT

I would check the exact address of the house you are looking at. The Town of Cary border is a little fluid in that area. There is a town limits map on the Town of Cary website:

Park at West Lake is Cary with an Apex mailing address as are all of the schools there - Middle Creek HS, West Lake Middle, etc.

There is a lot of confusion about that even by residents that live there.

I have people that INSIST that Middle Creek HS, for example is in Cary - ignoring the fact that Middle Creek Parks and Fields are Town of Cary facilities with Town of Cary signs, that the Town of Cary Middle Creek Community Center is ATTACHED to the Middle Creek High School and that right on West Lake Road, there is a "Cary" sign - indicating that you are in Cary. And as someone posted on another thread, the Town of Cary approved the new library that is on the same property.

The Town of Cary provides all the services in the Park of West Lake - trash, water, etc - you get Town of Cary cable access programming there, you pay Town of Cary taxes, etc, etc.

You'll be in Cary but your drivers license will say Apex. Not sure if you can double dip on the discounts

Can confirmed, used to live in West Lake. Cary services, Cary schools, Apex mailing address.

Nice neighborhood, loved living there, but could use more sidewalks.
