I haven't witnessed anything of the sort - there will always be disgruntled people everywhere and some who think the grass is greener on the other side but overall it seems people on this forum are happy to live here.
I wouldn't put a lot of stock into what the goofballs in the City vs City forum (I'm thinking that might be what the OP is talking about) have to say about Raleigh, or any Sunbelt city not named Miami for that matter (sometimes New Orleans). They like to rag on the lack of public transportation, that's it's not "walkable" enough, too car-cultured, too much sprawl, too many suburbs, too many strip malls, and other stuff. The funny thing is the cities they like to champion also have these things, especially sprawl, traffic, and suburbs, but they have row homes and scored an A+ for walkability from some random website so they are automatically better than we are and we should be jealous of them.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Raleigh isn't hated on here any more than other Southern cities are.
Do you mean City Data as in this site members? I haven't really noticed. I sometimes complain about NC being boring for younger single peoplelike myself, but do recommend it for families because it's affordable very balanced.
But as far as your question, I have no idea what you're talking about. Raleigh and NC all together is neutral, we nowhere near have the conflicts and arguments other big state and cities members have like NY vs CA or Houston vs Dallas.
Reading through that thread again reconfirms my stance that Raleigh is indeed one of the most hated cities on C-D.
Charlotte pushers are some of the most vocal Raleigh haters on this site, so I don't know why people are acting like the hate isn't there, or that I'm making it up lol.
I don't like Raleigh because Lincoln was shot here. And because WWI was started here. Other than that the farmers market is a nice place for public nudity.
It doesn't get any more hate than any other city on here if you ask me. Sure, there are some Charlotte boosters on here that will throw Raleigh under the bus from time to time, but we all know that both play a good part in this state's growth. If any of the cities (100K+) on this forum get 'hated on', I would have to say it's Fayetteville.
The City vs City section sometimes feels like a pissing match between homers. (No offense to those that actually post there)
I agree that Fayetteville gets a lot of hate, but the reputation of both is a bit different. With all the growth Raleigh has received, coupled with the great national acclaim, it seems like an afterthought on this forum.
Most people I encounter love it here, but if I was to only visit this forum, Apex would be a better option than Raleigh lol.
I love Apex, so don't come for me. I'm just making a distinct comparison.
